Common questions we get about our dock equipment answered here!
While you can anticipate a little bit of additional cost for the electricity needed to run the Hydraulic dock, The maintenance savings of a hydraulic dock versus a mechanical dock should provide you with an ROI of approximately 2 to 3 years. Just comparing one unit to another, there is approximately a three to $400.00 difference in cost.
Dock seals typically get compressed between the truck and the wall and provide a nice tight seal. Shelters typically fold along the side of the truck or inflate inward against it. While dock shelters have a lower maintenance cost than dock seals they do cost more to purchase, and they do not typically make as tight of a seal around the truck as a compressed dock seal.
Your consultant will ask you several questions regarding your loading dock application. Items such as the total weight of your forklift truck and your load, the number of trucks loaded per day, the number of shifts that you have, the difference in height between your dock and the truck, are just some of the questions you will be asked. All of these factors and more contribute to determining the capacity.
With our installation crews, we have the ability to cut your existing concrete and to pour in place a new loading dock. With our partners at Blue Giant Equipment, the loading dock is provided with a pan attached that acts as a form to pour the concrete around.
While there are some municipalities in Canada that suggest you should have them, to our knowledge there is no governing body in Atlantic Canada that enforces that. It is our suggestion that a vehicle restraint be installed along with your loading dock to prevent truck creepage as well as trucks departing prematurely. The heightened potential for an incident resulting in a negative outcome makes a vehicle restraint a sound investment.
